It is hard not to take the X-Files seriously when the Real CIA does...
The CIA declassified hundreds of documents in 1978 detailing the Agency’s investigations into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). The documents date primarily from the late 1940s and 1950s.
To help navigate the vast amount of data contained in our FOIA UFO collection, we’ve decided to highlight a few documents both skeptics and believers will find interesting. Below you will find five documents we think X-Files character Agent Fox Mulder would love to use to try and persuade others of the existence of extraterrestrial activity. We also pulled five documents we think his skeptical partner, Agent Dana Scully, could use to prove there is a scientific explanation for UFO sightings.
Yep! The CIA takes the X-files seriously enough to at least pretend it is sharing the real juicy "Truth" of things. and yet, how can we know if they are sharing everything? What are they not telling us?

This book was a very informative and useful resource for seasons 1-9 of The X-Files, as well as both movies. It had a lot of information regarding the background of the series as well, which was very interesting to read. The book itself begins with the actors and background talent that brought Chris Carter’s vision to life. It covers seasons 1-9 by Muir selecting a few episodes and giving an overview.
So what about the current 6 episodes that ended last night? If you ask me they just whetted the appetite for more. As Scully was the heroine at the end, it seems appropriate that Rolling Stone asked actress Gillian Anderson what her take was on whether or not this was the end of the X-Files.
So, is this the end?
[Singing, à la Jim Morrison] "This is the end." [Sighs] Oh, I don't know. I think we ended it in a way that it could go one way or the other. It all depends. I mean, it's a nice idea that we could carry on. But I live in London. I've got three kids. I have other commitments to other shows. David is doing a TV show for NBC [Aquarius]. There's a lot of things that aren't conducive to a long-running or even one more year of a running, multiple-episode TV show in the mix. So there would have to be some pretty extraordinary circumstances.
But maybe. Maybe the success that we've had thus far with the six episodes is enough for extraordinary circumstances to present themselves. You never know.

Whatever your take on the X-Files and their future, the show has brought millions of us a storied history of fun and fantasy. And that is what television entertainment is all about.
